Asthma Canada/AllerGen Graduate Student Research Awards

Award Recipients: 2018 | 2017

Asthma Canada and AllerGen partnered to co-fund graduate student research awards related to early-onset and late-onset asthma.

Asthma Canada is a national organization that provides evidence-based, age-appropriate asthma information, education, management tools and support programs for Canadians with asthma. Asthma Canada also supports strategic research to improve the quality of life of people living with asthma, and ultimately find a cure.

These graduate training awards created value-added opportunities for the training, education, and professional development of graduate students who will strengthen Canada’s knowledge base and scope for innovation. These awards built capacity amongst young Canadian researchers to ensure continued improvement of treatments and ongoing process working towards finding a cure for asthma.

Fonds de recherche du Québec – Santé (FRQS)/AllerGen Clinical Research Scholars

Award Recipients: 2016 Ɩ 2013

FRQS and AllerGen jointly funded Clinical Research Scholars – Junior 1 Career Awards in support of early-career researchers interested in a combined career as a clinician and an academic researcher. These awards were given annually to outstanding young clinical investigators who wished to pursue research in the areas of allergies and related immune diseases.

The Canadian Asthma, Allergy and Immunology Foundation (CAAIF)/AllerGen Research Fellowships in Clinical Immunology and Allergy

Award Recipients: 2018 | 2017 | 2016 Program Description

The goal of the CAAIF / AllerGen Research Fellowship is to enable trainees in the field of Clinical Immunology and Allergy to pursue further research. The goals of the Foundation are to raise awareness for the following diseases: asthma, allergic rhinitis, atopic dermatitis, chronic urticaria, food allergy, anaphylaxis, immune deficiency and other immunological diseases. Studies relevant to any of these conditions covering any of the four pillars of CIHR research are eligible for funding.

Canadian Respiratory Research Network (CRRN)/AllerGen Emerging Research Leaders Initiative (ERLI)

Award Recipients: 2016 Ɩ 2015

The Emerging Research Leaders Initiative (ERLI) was an establishment grant program for researchers at the transition stage from post-doctoral fellow to early professional career stage in the areas of cardiovascular, cerebrovascular, and/or respiratory health research. This multi-partnered initiative aimed to reverse the downward trend in the number of postdoctoral students and young/emerging investigators in the field of cardiovascular cerebrovascular and respiratory research. A successful CRRN applicant whose research focus was aligned with AllerGen’s mission and scope of research was eligible for a top-up of $12,000/year for the length of the award.
