Uric acid plays a role in peanut allergy

Peanut_largeAllergy researchers at McMaster University have shown, for the first time, that uric acid is a critical signal for the induction of peanut allergy.

The research team included AllerGen investigators Drs Manel Jordana, Susan Waserman and Mark Larché, as well as AllerGen trainees Drs Derek Chu and Joshua Kong.

The article, “Comprehensive Metabolomics Identifies the Alarmin Uric Acid as a Critical Signal for the Induction of Peanut Allergy,” was published online in February 2015.
